| Mount Of Beatitudes |
|   |
The ancient church stands on the slope of the mountain, opposite the church Mensa Christi.
The small, modest church was built at the end of the 4th century.
Here Jesus held the "Sermon on the Mount", beginning with the
proclamation of the eight beatitudes. The new church was erected on the
mountaintop in the year 1938 by the Italian order and designed by the renowned
architect Antonio Berlucci. It is built in the shape of an octagon (symbolizing
the eight beatitudes), topped by a blue greenish copper dome.
